Sit and think for a bit, then get back to work.

"Swear, curse, pull hair out and start physically abusing random nearby items" should be on the list :P

usually it's 3 and/or 5 for me with the occasional 2.

Go out for a walk (or busride).. Tink about other stuff... Have a good sleep.. Have more sleep... And more sleep... I'm pretty sure that i'll 'see the light' on a second walk/busride...

When I'm at work with writer's block, I usually go downstairs & sit on the crapper for a while. That tends to clear the brain a bit ;)
Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.

I usually just take a walk (my office is downtown, so there is lots to do) if I am at work... if at home... I either play my guitar for a while or go to my girlfriend's house.

I play a game or 10 of chess on uschesslive until i feel like my mnid has been freed from coding. I tend to believe that if you find yourself in a situation where you can't seem to grasp whatever it is that is on the tip of your tongue, the best method is to completely take your mind off it and put it on something else.

I'll have to go with "other" .. specification: play a game or read some book (probably technical in nature.)

I went with sit and think for a minute, usually works. When it doesn't I put a game on or go watch TV.

I'm still into Elder Scrolls: Oblivion from when I mentioned it in the WoW thread, lol - I'm only level 21 - I suck.
