We used to go to a nice bar/grill not far from here every couple of weeks or so for lunch, although it's probably a far cry from the pub atmosphere you're used to. They do make alot of really good specialty sandwiches.

@evilmonkey: I just noticed you're another T-dotter. It appears we're taking over!

@maugs: We don't have proper pubs :-( The closest we get (unfortunately) is more like a bar with crappy snack food. I had some genuine pub experiences in the UK a few years ago and I'm quite jealous - it seems our North American "subdivision culture" just doesn't mix with the concept of a proper pub :-(

Come to think of it, the closest we get in Toronto to "pub-ish-ness" is Taiwanese Bubble Tea houses - still not a replacement, but a step in the right direction... It's a shame, really.

I love the welcoming feel of a pub. You can't walk down the street and go past an open pub door, smelling the beer and feeling compelled to go inside :) I sometimes just go and sit by myself in a pub on my way home from work and read the paper with a pint.

@Kieran: It's actually not the subdivision culture...its the car culture. A bar couldn't survive where I live (Thornhill area) if it tried because as a society, we're overzealous (and rightly so) about drinking and driving. Since there is next to no public transit in my area, bars are kinda out of the question. Its probably the social stigma as well..."you mean you drink by yourself after work???". Around here, a bar is seen as a place you go to watch hockey night in canada with 50 of your closest friends. :D

I'm the thinnest guy at my job and I eat the least healthy food. The thing is, I eat one meal a day, and one snack.

Apparently it's healthiest to eat (healthy) snacks throughout the day as opposed to the typical "3 meals per day".

Dude, what gives? This thing shows that I have voted, but I haven't. How come?

Anyway, for me it is usually leftovers since I am broke as a joke all the time (family and what not). Sometimes it is fast food, when I can't get others to buy me lunch :twisted: .

Too bad about that crappy YRT service - but you can't be far from a decent bubble tea place!

I work at home, and we usually have burritos, rice, goat meat, or salad. Yes, it is all really good (especially the burritos) :D
