lol - didn't we recently have an entire thread on hating keyboards? Wow... I sound so negative.

@ole: good news, there are still $10 (~5 GBP) Logitech keyboards out there with neither bells nor whistles and good key action. using "KeyTweak" to map volume mute/down/up to F6->F8 (respectively) has completely solved my keyboard gripes!

My response

In response to the first question. I'd watch "The Meaning Of Life" 1000 times.

In response to Everah's last post, I dislike hosts.

And what about this: http://ipclassify.relef.net/images/1969.jpg ... DB or host issue ;) another strange thing was that even the forum (PHP - Code) has been marked as not read, there were no new messages in it ...
There are 10 types of people in this world, those who understand binary and those who don't

That would happen to be a miss in the queries phpBB performs. Likely, the database server crashed during the batch of queries being run.

Assume the fetal position, rock back and forth and make noises not unlike you'd hear in a mental institution. 8O

How do you define "goes down"?? If I can't reach the site, I just go away and do something else. But at times like today, when it grinds to a slow crawl and I have to keep repeating my requests for a page, I skulk around the house looking for a sledge hammer! I don't know where this forum is hosted, but could someone complain to the provider??

We are in the process of looking at several potential avenues for change at the moment.

It's only been unstable recently.

Apparently there was a permissions change due to numbers of connections our database was fielding. Supposedly when it reaches a limit it restarts.

I think it's bunk, but I can't really do anything about it except champion our move away. :?

Can you throw memcache on here to cache some of the query results that aren't constantly changing? That would make the site snappy.
