[Help offered] Seeking mentor

Post by fwycruiser118 »

Looking for internship or experienced programmer in the field of web development to help guide me. Willing to work for free. I am not seeking free
teaching lessons but rather someone I can go to for advice and guidance to improve my skill. My biggest interest would be working on some sort of objected
oriented project. I'm not a complete newbie, I have been learning php/mysql for a about year now, and so far back-end programming has been nothing but a
serious hobby. I've been learning through the ref docs on mysql/php official sites and the many articles posted all over the web. However due to no
experience in the commercial world I do not know how to turn my hobby into a professional career and that is where I need help.

To be quite frank I couldn't tell you how experienced or "good" I am because I have never worked on a project or with others. This is not a
self-confidence issue. I never had anything to measure myself against. I did however experimented with and took notes on the following: Design patterns,
version control, regex, and database normalization.

Send me a PM if you have any questions or want to test me out. Willing to take any opportunity. Thanks.

If you want to have a go developing an open source module for an open source system PM me (we use Object Orientation). I'm afraid we couldn't pay you but I can spend time offering lots of feedback and you can point to it afterwards as something you've worked on.
