Guys/Gals,
I am fascinated by the powers of PHP and MySQL. I myself have developed a passion towards that by watching a colleague of mine developing websites withe above mentioned. There is a force within me that motivates me to do wonders with PHP and MySQL. I am not loaded right now. I am looking for a mentor (The Oracle) for me who can guide me through step by step and help me know my ability in this field. I can assure you that I will be a great contributor to this Developer's Network. I am a Networking guy. I am a CCNA and SCSA. I am updating myself on Linux too. Please help me. Thanks in advance.
NEO.
Help me out... looking for a mentor (The Oracle)

Not knowing whether you have any understanding of programming leads me to suggest getting a book on both PHP and MYSQL ( I have a WROX book for beginning and advances PHP but I think that WROX went out of business) and going through the exercises to get a feel for things. Once you have completed that you can then decide what you want to create and begin creating it. I highly recommend searching the forums for answers to what may be simple logic or syntax questions. http://www.php.net is a good reference as well. Then feel free to post questions that arise. I am sure that someone here will be able to answer any well thought out question.

Just posted a similar response to another chap but...
check http://www.hotscripts.com and http://www.evilwalrus.com for tutorials. I've got the same book as Johnm ( I dont think there out of business if we're talking about those big red books with yellow writing on the cover ) and its a very good starting point the ISBN 1-861003-73-0.
From previous programming experience I've found PHP and MYSQL to be very logical and efficient so I would highly recommend giving it a go. Its helped me vaslty enrich the users experience of my company website too.
