Effective use of volunteers

Post by macewan »

Teaming with a 'tech' volunteer stie might be a good idea for this dev forum. There are lots of opportunities to help nonprofits/charities all over the world.

Setting up basic websites with cms backends (*nuke, xoops, mam*) and teaching the charity workers how to use them is a great way to test your skills do a good thing.

http://www.it4communities.org.uk/ is a good example.

Rgr it4communities was made a sticky link some time ago.

Not so sure how helpful nuke might be :) but I agree in general it would be good to encourage peopel to help not for profit causes. Did you have anything else in mind other than featuring some links?

Content Management for non-profits

Post by jredd »

I'm developing a site for a non-profit and am incorporating some content management features. They are very pleased with it and I want to expand it and offer similar systems to other non-profits tailored to their specific needs.

Anyone interested in collaborating on such a project email me at jredd@pocketmail.com and I'll send you the url of the demo site so you can see where I'm at in the development.

Thanks,
Jim Redd
