I am looking for someone to create a very (very) simple EXE file that will simply open another file and then close itself... that's it.
If you could spare the time I would be very greatful.
The file which the EXE will need to open is in a folder (located in the same directory as the EXE) called "lib" and the file is called "runtime.hta"... so the full path relative to the EXE is "lib/runtime.hta".
Once again your help would be great and you will also get a credit on the music application I am creating.
Regards,
G.
PS. I would do this myself but I can't find any free VB editors and at this time I'm not willing to pay $300 for one just for this little job.

What the program is, is just a form with a text box and a button
You type the path into the textbox, and hit the button..and viola. I can also make it so that you hit enter instead of the button, if you want.

If you give me the exact path of the program, I can make it so that on load up, it will open the program and close itself

Ok thanks, I think is will be better. I'm after something that just launches another file and then closes itself.
The entire file path to the file I would like to be launched from the EXE is "C:\Program Files\Urbanchaos.net\KX Studio\lib\runtime.hta".
It would be better if there wasn't any 'form' elements in the EXE. It just needs to load, launch 'n close

Hmmm that's odd, doesn't seem to have turned up.
Would you be able to ZIP it up and then email it to
si@urbanchaos.net instead of the other email address.
Thanks again.

Hi mate, it's coming up with an error...
Run-time error '53' File not found
To avoid any problems with restricted access to the Windows directory I've moved the application to the root C: folder now. Hopefully this will make things a little easier to access.
The full path to the file I would like to open via the EXE is now found at C:\KXStudio\lib\sys\runtime.hta
Sorry for the trouble mate, and thanks once again for your help.

Did you ever get this working? If not, I can email the new version..

Na never got it working.. I think it might have something to do with folder/file permissions.
If you could try another one that would be great... here's the final location of the file I would like the EXE to run... C:\KXStudio\lib\runtime.kxx
Hope you had a good nuYear.
