Hi there. Feel free to scroll down to the project information if you aren't interested in the background info just yet. I'm sure you have better things to do than read my entire post and then decide you aren't interested. :)

Background information on the project:

I'm building a community focused World of Warcraft site.

A little background for those of you who aren't gamers: World of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer game by Blizzard Entertainment. I think thats as far as I really need to go for that. Read the above link if you need more information.

Anyways, WoW (World of Warcraft) features a customizable user interface. Using LUA and XML, fans can improve on the game's user interface by adding features or improving graphics. Fans do this in the form of "addons", which allow a practically infinite number of seperate modifications (by different addon authors) to be used at once. Its really a great system, and the number of addons developed since the game's November release has been enormous.

There is a need to manage these addons in an easy to find and use way. We have started the UILoader project to provide an easy method for even the most casual computer user to modify their World of Warcraft interface through the use of addons. Essentially, this java program allows one-click install and management of addons.

UILoader can be most easily described as a "RSS for WoW addons". It works from a mysql database, which contains the addon's name and a link to a "descritor file". This data file (which the addon author can keep on their website for easy updating) contains a description, version number, compatabilities, requirements, and download link. UILoader compiles the information from these data files into an easy to use format where fans can download the addons they want.

Specific project information:

The UILoader project is in need of someone who can code PHP at least semi-professionally. If interested, your duties would include creating an online database of the addon in the UILoader database, so fans not comfortable with downloading an application can manually download the .zip instead. This online database would include additional features not found inside UILoader, including:

-Screenshots
-Ratings
-Comments

We would like to use the data files about these addons (read background info above) on the pages of the online database, so interested programmers should have some knowledge of using RSS feeds. The rest of the project should be fairly basic as far as the screenshots, ratings, and comments go.

If interested, please send an email to eric429 at nospam gmail dot com with the following information:

-Amount of experience you have with php
-Links to some past projects of yours (if applicable)

Thanks for your time. The project is already rolling, and we'd like to get a php programmer started ASAP.
