Summary
The site will be geared towards providing the community with everything in the music scene possible. (This was originally geared for just a drum and bass community, but we have opened it up to all genres, so if some of the wording is related to DnB, you know why).

Detailed Description of Review System
1. Different tastes
----------------------------
When using review sites (traxinspace and dnbscene mainly) I found that my tastes never fitted in with those of the sites which ended up in my being forced away from the site.
Reviews in general are just one person's opinion of a track and in my view there's no such thing as an "objective" review.
Instead of fighting against the fact that we all have different tastes I think a review section should make use of this.
2. Push and Pull media
------------------------------
Any one of you guys that has studied the net you'll find it works differently to stuff like TV or magazines etc in that you go to find stuff you want to see rather than having it sent to you. People expect this from the net so you have to allow people to search for stuff that they'll like rather than telling them what the best is in the way a magazine does. On tv and in magazines once it goes to print that's it so if you don't like the stuff you can not watch it, but the emphasis is not on the community. this site will be a community so you have to respect the opinions of each and every member.
3. How will it work?
---------------------------
The way i see it working is that the site learns what you like based on what you tell it and matches this with the content of the tracks, offering you things it thinks you will like. The more you use the site the more accurate it will become.
4. Finer details
----------------------
First there's the way the site learns about your tastes and how it automatically finds music for you. I think initially when you sign up you can click keywords to describe the music you like, then when you are offered tracks you have the option of saying whether you like them or not (yes or no) or a more in depth option that allows you to say which of the things you liked about it and which you didn't which would make the system more accurate.
I'm thinking that you could have a score against each keyword so it learns which elements are most important to you, so it can look for them first.
Also you can search for tracks with certain elements (ones that aren't going to pop up automatically) rather than having them automatically suggested and then when you comment on whether or not you like them you can broaden the taste
Since the system knows each member's tastes it can link you to people that like a certain genre or element and you can see which tracks they liked when you want to delve into a different style, or be linked up with likeminded people.

Interested? Then visit the website for details on what jobs (non-paid) are available. They are not just coding jobs, there is something for everyone, so you don't have to be good at coding to help.
This project is going to take a long time to complete, I estimate about a year, if development was constant. So make sure you have the time. This would look extremely good on a CV, as a project of this size is a big task and takes a lot of hard work and organisation!
