Musicians/Music Lovers...

Post by Theory? »

Greetings!

My friend and I have started development on a very large-scale platform to help us run our upstart record label. The idea is to create a program that converts a record label form being a mere passive element that sells music to fans, to a more intermediary state that serves to connect fans to the musicians in a number of ways. There will also be tools that help fans communicate, as well as letting other musicians COLLABORATE (this is by far the systems greatest feature). To sum it up best, we're looking to create the worlds first-ever Web 2.0 Record Label.

Unfortunately neither of us are very experienced programmers. I know PHP and general programming logic, to a point though. There's a long list of technologies we wish to implement and learning them all ourselves, while possible, would put a sever damper on the project and delay it significantly.

I understand that free work doesn't come by often, if ever, but frankly, we don't have any money. We're both college students with a really good idea that we're dying to act upon.

The program itself is in the VERY early stages of development, there is no code yet.

If you're a young, energetic programmer who loves music and would love to be a part of what we believe to be the next wave in an ongoing fusion of music and technology, then this project is definitely for you. We can't PROMISE any money, but ideally if someone offers us their help, we'd like to be able to give them something monetary eventually (hopefully this idea WILL, in fact make some money, so at that point, we'd be more than glad to give some sort of payment). We're looking for people well versed in:

OOP PHP5/MySQL
Ajaxian technologies (JavaScript, XML, Ajax implementations with PHP, etc.)
CSS 2 (knowledge of 3 is a bonus too)
XHTML through 1.1
RSS 2.0
Adobe Flash/Flex/ActionScript
BitTorrent Implementation using PHP

Also, any knowledge of Adobe's new desktop runtime, Apollo, would be MEGA good.

Again, I'm not expecting a development team, just someone(s) who's on the same page as us, loves music, and wants to help spur a major change in the industry.

You can PM, e-mail, or contact me via AIM: Dan Was Beer

Thanks.
