As most of you probably have a MySpace account you know the flaws that the Online Community God holds (I blame some of the problems of MySpace on the windows server environment and the use of ASP over PHP). The same is true for YouTube, ImageShack, RapidShare, and Adult Friend Finder.

I have already started a "super-networking-site" that basically brings the best of each of these sites to a single location. The project is very far from complete but I do have some of the site working.
I also realized that with a project this large, it's going to be very hard to accomplish alone while still in college (Almost done) and working basically full-time (UPS Supervisor).

Everything is being programmed in PHP, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL. I'm looking to bring a group of developers together to help with this project.
I also have more open source projects lined up which include:

Content Management System (compete with Joomla)
Bulletin Board System (compete with vBulletin)

As well as some chat and game plug-ins for both the CMS and BB System.
What do you think?

Hi,
Nice to hear about your projects.
I would have really helped you in it but I am more of a marketing man than developer. If you need any help in marketing then I am the right resource.

Thanks and all the best for your projects.

With regards,
Mandar Thosar

That sounds great! Thank you for the offer.

I just put up forums on Saturday to track progress of projects. I haven't added much to them and I'm the only member (This is the first place I've posted about them) but they can be found at http://www.bsprogs.com

I'll be keeping this forum updated as well as the ones on my site.

Again, thank you. :)

I have updated the forums to track progress of the projects.

I currently have one other developer interested in working on these projects and I'm still looking for more. I'm also looking for anyone who would like to do the template designs as well as the graphics.

I also want to thank you again Mandar. If you get a chance, please sign up on the boards to keep updated with the projects.

Thank you,

Steven Brown

We are also working on a project (buiBase) with those features you have in mind and also looking for more people to help out. However, our project is not open source but the system will be available for free. You are welcome to join us if you’re interested. Thanks.

Update

Post by bsprogs »

Update:

I now have two other developers on the beginning of the CMS project.

The project is being planned out now and development should begin shortly. If you want to take part in this development, now is the time to get a word in before development begins.
