Hello! I'm just a youngin, 18 years of age, but I've been messing around with web development for a good 5+ years.... when I finally get to the point of wanting to actually make a career (or some extra cash to say the least) out of it though, I was stopped dead in my tracks by realizing that.. while I've messed around plenty in the last 5 years, I never made much of anything that was permanent that would be good for a portfolio. So now I look to anyone and everyone that needs some help with most anything. My main area of interest is PHP/MySQL, as far as web design goes, I haven't read a single XHTML book in my life, at first I found tutorials by searching through AOL... soon after though my father started me out with 'The Idiots Guide to Creating a Web Page' 2nd Edition, since then I haven't touched anything but CSS and Javascript book or two... Big mistakes - hence why they're currently sitting on my desk. However! I don't want any kind of lack I might have in any web development language to hinder any chance I might have at work. I've certainly read through enough scripts to understand the basics of most languages, and even for those that I have not, I'd like to take any chance I can to work on something, learning a new language along the way certainly won't hurt me.
So in essence, I know PHP/MySQL the most, but I'm willing to give a stab at anything and everything out there, the worst that happens? I learn parts of a new language and fail to get the project done on time, not a great lookout, but the best I have.
I'm unsure if I'm allowed to do this, so please correct me if I'm not... but if you've got any questions or anything...

*edit* I guess it wouldn't hurt... my MSN is the same as my email... if you want any others just ask and I'll setup an account.
And... one other thing - any words of advice from everyone else here as to where else I can find places to work? And where I would most likely be able to find a few cheap jobs to do? Thanks!

Do you want to do a pretty easy project for a non-profit? It would look good in a portfolio and wouldn't take too long. (Its not a paid job).
The project would be to port a 6 page web site from html to PHP and CSS (I think) with the goal to allow browser based editing of defined sections of the page with proper credentials. Also, a new page that would allow an administrator to change different aspects of the CSS.
I would ask that you do all the work locally and just provide me with the source files and I will install and configure after reviewing the source code. You can copy and paste the content from the current site. Once its up and running you can take screen shots or do what ever you need for your portfolio.
