Hello there coders, I come here today as the begging of finding and establishing a team, the team, which I am aiming to be a minimum of 5 people but hopefully 10 would be designing some Basic, and some not so basic tools for a website engineered about Dungeons and dragons and possibly other tabletop rpg's.
Now, I am not a coder myself I must admit, one of the reasons why I am looking here, but hopefully some Php coders who wish to broaden the experience and increase their knowledge and skillset will be interested in this.
This will be a casual project, this means that your age does not matter, whether you're 90 or 9 as long as you have the basic skills.

The structure of the team.

Graphic designer - this will be myself, creating things such as Icons, layouts and such for use by of the programmers in their tools.

Coder team leader - Basically this position requires medium to high skill, for example knowledge on how to make script's work with SQL servers and database's.

Coding team members - The coding team members will be the main asset in our little group, making our applications with the help of their team leader and helping to design the site, they require low - medium knowledge in php coding and should be able to do thing's such as integrating script's with graphics, interacting interactivity and user input's in their scripting and the use of synchronization (last one can be learned while in team though) and the capability to help the junior's

And last but not least.

Junior programmers - These will gain help from a member of the coding team, sort of like a mentor system, requiring basic knowledge of PHP coding you need to be able to do some simple functions such as making a randomized variables/integers for thing's such as online dice roll's and basic programming such as saving variables and editing variables.

Example's of tool's to be made.

Some examples of the tools to be made are as follows.

Team leader - registration and login script to work with a SQL server, visual representation of tiled maps (images) and possibly a map maker in the future.

Coder - Chat script's and thing's such as character sheet creators, map event's (tiles which initiate a script) and item creators (description and user uploaded image).

Junior coders - intergrated dice rollers, hp trackers and combat script's ( for example randomized number taken away from a variable being the players hp would be a simple way of saying "attack script")

The potential for this is limitless, Dungeons and dragon's is Hugely popular so the user base should be vast, there are only 2 decent tools for online Dnd campaign's right now which is webrpg, which is a pay to use one and openrpg which is slow, download only and very buggy meaning that if we can do this well there is a potential for a popular website used by many people, but also in the end some money could be made out of it if we choose to make a premium service type of thing.

Regarding the website and domain.

Currently I have a non DnD related domain which I am keeping private from non team members which has the features capable of testing our scripts, once we have a small team of at least 5 people including myself and some evidence that the team is competent enough to make the project a reality then a specialized Domain will be created and that will be created within days of the team being created.

Also if you know any other languages such as Java, javascript, CSS and such feel free to get in touch as long as you think you could contribute to the team you will be allowed to join in :)

Hoping to have sparked your interest and looking forward to working with future team members.

P.s : Once the team is big enough to create quality script's on a regular basis then the budget will come in and tools, software and rewards will be given to active team members to help improve the productivity and happiness of the team.

I don't want to put you off or anything, but Wizards of the Coast are pushing the online aspects of the Version 4 rules a lot, and that almost certainly means suing people running rival websites. If this site became popular and successful you'd probably end up in court for copyright violation.

That is highly doubtfull, as DND is a tabletop rpg that is mainly played by text communication the creation of tools to help game players and makers are not copyrighted by the WOTC trade license, as long as we do not provide things such as the books required to play DND or brand the official logo onto our products then we are protected from that eventuality.

Have you gotten anyone yet? I'm not a D&D player, but I could help with coding.
