Linux Distros - Distro War

I might as well start it right here and now, and save ourselves the trouble. Linux distro wars will not be tolerated. They are useless, and moronic. The fact that someone is using Linux is music to my years, the distro isn't as important as the fact that this person is using Linux.

So, here be the rules set in binary:

1. All distros welcome.
2. Your distro sucks just as much as mine does.
3. No distro bashing.
4. "Get a better distro" is NOT a valid answer.
5. Linux v.s. [Insert other OS here] sucks as well.

Basically, the whole point of this section is to foster interest in Linux, and to help people learn how to use it. Be patient, and understanding. Remember, their is a real person on the other end of the posting. I will stand up for people who are being flamed for no good reason, and trust me, you don't want me against you. (/me holds finger above red button)

Anyways, hopefull this will stem the flow of any potential and useless distro war.

It was request, and several other people wanted it, and I thought it would be nice as well, so I was like: "What they heck, why not?"

So, here it is.

Might want to also ban any Linux vs Windows wars too, cause those are just as pointless :D

I asked a person to do this on his box
./configure --with-gd --with-curl
and he was amazed that such things also happen
I think opening this forum and this thread is nice!

wow im the complete opposite, i have been using windows all my life and only used linux once to run a home server which sucked (but was never hacked :) )

but ya i agree the linux vs windows war will never end, both have their good and bad side so its a never end argument that only makes enimies, not friends.

I run windows on my laptop, but I'm logged into my linux server most of the time via putty. I do all sorts of art things, though, including photography. All the better art programs (excluding gimp) are on windows.

than what linux gives.Oh and i like the look of XP...wonder whats in store

I find most applications much easier to install in linux than windows. Especially when using package managers, but even without.

if it's binaries, unpack them and move them wherever you want;
if it's code, ./configure, make, make install

no setups, registry, add/remove, etc.

I havent been using Linux for that long but I like it sooo much better. I like the fact that I can surf the 'net without having pop-ups and all that other crap on my machine. I really like the fact that I can browse applications and pick and choose what I want to add without the use of cds and massive amounts of reboots :)
