DON'T!!!
I updated my SuSE 8.2 last tuesday and installed the commercial nvidia driver for my Geforce 2 GTS-Card. Afterwards the X-Server didn't do a thing anymore. I had to manually rename the s**t-driver, edit the X-Server and the system started to work again....
Even the booting doesn't work properly anymore since then!
I'll never (that is NEVER) update a NVIDIA-card again. Forget the 3D-thingies, my monitor is flat anyway

And you're using the 2.6 kernel with the patches I posted above?

I only hope the gart-support for nforce2 is less tricky with the 2.6 kernel :-S

I have no idea... could it be 2.4.20?
How can I find that out?

uname -a

You're probably not using 2.6 if you don't know, cause you would of had to compile it yourself.

Thanx Pyrite, I've learned another thing. So, I was right: it's 2.4.20.
And the damage still isn't completely gone: I'm going to re-install Suse on my HDD next week, it's driving me nuts 8O
