slackware boot problem

Post by thegreatone2176 »

When i try to boot slackware it tells me

"Kernel Panic: VFS: cant mount on (0,0)"

i googled my error message and most of them said that it meant the kernel was outdated but i have the latest one so that is not an issue. Another site I found said that it could be a problem with Lilo, but I chose not to install it b/c it said I could later and I figured i could get by without it.

So since these are the two problems i found from searching and neither would seem to affect me does anyone else know what might be wrong or has anoyone else experienced this?

EDIT: after a few reinstalls and reading an install guide i got it!

Just for a note, you can always boot with the Slackware CD and boot one of their kernels off the CD as well. I have done this in the past if a stock kernel wouldn't boot and I needed to edit /etc/lilo.conf or reinstall lilo.
