Good Security practice on linux?

Hi,

i would like to know what good security practices people use. im not very advanced in linux. Would anyone beable to tell me some good guides for securing a debian distribution?

Hi,

A good start is to set up a firewall using iptables. Next turn off any services you don't need such as mail, apache, MySql, FTP, etc. Do a google search for how to secure linux. There are lots of things you can do.

a quick google of "linux ip tables" will give you many good rescources..

search those terms and its your first result :roll:
