Can anyone recommend a good Linux FTP client? I have been using Gftp but it crashes when retreiving large directory listings and I'm not too happy with it's features.

If you are using KDE. Just type ftp:// or sftp:// in your address bar.

FireFTP for mozilla firefox
That way you casn use it in windows and linux and not have to learn your way around yet another ftp client.
Personally I prefer to
use lufis to mount the actual ftp server to a local directory and use it as if it's a part of my normal filesystem
