RHE 3 LAMP issues

Post by neophyte »

I need some advice. The Red Hat Enterprise 3 up2date repositories are horribly slow, unresponsive, and have few options for keeping your basic LAMP environment running somewhere close to the rest of the world. I need MYSQL and PHP to be somewhere near the operable range (currently mysql 3.23 and php 4.3.2). So I have three options: move to RHE 4, or install my own versions. The problem is I haven't the time for ./configure make make install solutions. What I need is a repository that has some RPM's I can count on to resolve dependencies and install. Are there other repositories I can connect to to make my life easier, or are their RPMS some place I can use to make this work? I've tried doing my own searching to no avail. Any tips would be much appreciated...

Thanks

up2date is horrible imho.

You might want to look into yum. It's a little quirky and takes some getting used to but it definetely solves the dependency hell problem.
