I'm about to reinstall either fedora core 4 or freebsd 5.3
I've always went with kde, so I don't know what gnome is like.
i might go with gnome this time.

what do you use (if you use a graphical shell)
Set Search Time - A google chrome extension. When you search only results from the past year (or set time period) are displayed. Helps tremendously when using new technologies to avoid outdated results.

I think I ran this poll last year. I was always into KDE since I figured it looked nicer and had more features but I got tired of things like kicker just randomly crashing and when I moved to Ubuntu the default is Gnome. Much cleaner, less fat/fluff. I prefer Gnome.

I'd say it's a toss up between the two. With KDE, you can certainly get your desktop to look nice and pretty, but as d11wtq said... Gnome is clean and simple.

I did vote for KDE because I currently run it on my desktop, however I think it's really 6 or one half dozen. It's all a matter of personal preference.

EDIT: Go with Fedora 4... it's a nice little distro. ;)
