I have win2000 and redhat 7.3. It took me a week to get my modem working on linux. Linux was slower than win. Wine stopped working. In one of the earlier replies BDKR wrote that he had an msn client working (thats interesting).
I dont know I tried linux and there was a lot of stuff I liked but at the same time I realized that as a web developer there was no way linux could work without stuff like flash and freehand and fireworks. Gimp is cool but that isnt enough. I think linux is predominantly the tool for programmers.
I gave up after a month and formed the opinion that there was way too much to learn. Installing programs and doing maintainence is a big hassle, especially for a newbie. If linux is ever going to become a serious challeng to win ( I hope) then it needs to be simplified even more than it has been.
I think it will gain more acceptance if the educational institutions embrace it as well.
Thats my opinion anyway.
