Trouble installing Xemacs

So I'm trying to upgrade my installation of Xemacs from 21.4.12 to 21.4.19. I downloaded the source, configured, called make & make install. I didn't seem to get any errors. I also download the sumo tarball of all the packages & untar'd where I needed to. However, almost everything I try to do in Xemacs doesn't work now - I get a "Symbol's function definition is void: variable name" error.
Does anyone have any idea what's causing this? Google seems pretty clueless.
Update: I have no idea what the heck's going on. Apparently installing 21.4.19 doesn't get rid of 21.4.12. I'll admin - that might be obvious to people who really know what their doing in Linux, but it wasn't to me. I still had the old 21.4.12 "executable" lying around, so I just changed the symbolic link to point to that rather than 21.4.19 & things are back to normal. What. The. Eff.
