How do I do it? :(

I'm using a GB keymap at the moment and xorg as my X server but both ways of doing it in windows according to this:

Don't seem to work. Any clues?

Isn't there an IME in there? I'm pretty sure my system has one..

Apparently so :) I'd never even heard the term before since I've never needed it.

Wikipedia say's it's XIM under the X window system but I can't find anything like that :( At least I know what I'm Googling for now though thanks :D
