Freespire

Post by neophyte »

Hey anyone else besides me try the new Freespire distro?

I installed it last night. I posted my comments and a screen shot on my site. It's a bit behind the times for now but I think this fall/winter when they release with KDE 3.5 they'll be very competitive with the likes of Ubuntu.

Ive had it running myself.

I was impressed, 1 CD install and it was all working with minimul fuss (unlike my slackware box). Best thing about Freespire is it has the legal right to box all your codecs etc for media playback straight out of the box.

I was not impressed with the default package installer (where you can purchase an account and download apps) but it came with apt so synaptic replaced that.

I only had it on for a day or so so I cannot give much more info about it.

I did like it though.
