Mysqld wont start

Post by LiveFree »

Hey All,

Well I yumm'ed up some 'mysql-server' which installed 'mysql' as a dependncy. But I cant start the mysql service for the life of me. Ive tried once, the Services window crashed and a minute later I got a box saying it had been install successfully.

But It says that 'mysqld dead but subsys locked' in the Services window

Can anyone give me a hand here

EDIT: OOps forgot Distro: FC5

What instructions did you follow for your installation?

I 'yummed' up mysql-server which installed mysql as a dependancy (I also installed mysql admin) so yum did the install for me.

That's not what he asked. Have you checked any docs to see if there's any post-setup required? Many distro require you to run mysql-install whatever it's called (I forget). It sets up the databases for you and creates a root account and stuff.
