finding wireless driver

Post by raghavan20 »

I have a Dell D400.

The PCI card is: Dell 1350 miniPCI card
The chip: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g

I have tried using R90501.Exe from
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/medi ... x.php/List

but it does not seem to work after I do dmesg | grep ndiswrapper

Code: Select all

ndiswrapper: no version for "struct_module" found: kernel tainted.
ndiswrapper version 1.16 loaded(preempt=no,smp=no)
I do not see anything like this which should have happened

Code: Select all

ndiswrapper: driver bcmwl5 (Broadcom,02/10/2005, 3.100.35.1) loaded
so I guess there might be an error choosing the right driver?

The procedure I followed to make wireless card work is

if you have no luck here, try ubuntu, it has great wireless compatibility.

Sorry bro, I have heard nothing but wailing and gnashing of teeth when it comes to getting wireless to work with on FC distros.

Its been about six months since I tried this with Fedora Core 4. I do remember ndiswrapper. But I also remember a very limited set of hardware devices that would work on FC with ndiswrapper.
