I'm trying to get hold of an iso of Sun Solaris 8.5, but I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone help with this at all? I need to build a replica of another server on this OS and I can't find any install discs whatsoever.

Are these correct?

edit: it would appear Solaris wasn't open sourced until just after 10 came out, so something tells me you're going to find it quite difficult to find such an old build (legally.)

If memory serves solaris 8 was free for personal use. Maybe there was a "sign in" clause.

At this point it's not so simple to find almost any information on it, so I have no idea. My comment was based on the very small amount of solid information I could find on the transition to open source from whatever it was prior.

Obviously I care a great deal about Solaris.

I only found a press release saying the license is for free

While the Solaris software license is free, Sun is charging $75 for the full media kit, which includes the Solaris 8 Operating Environment translated in 9 languages, a Solaris Software Companion CD, and co-packaged software.
But it does not say wether others are allowed to distribute/mirror the images or not.
