I am trying to install Ubuntu but the resolution of all things is stopping me. The only resolution available to me is 640X480 and it won't let me see the bottom of the screen to click on the buttons needed. Any ideas?

What version did you get?
You are trying to install it or already did so? (just making sure)
Did you burn the image on a CD?

Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Desktop Edition
I have not installed but am trying.
I downloaded and burned the ISO image to a disk. Popped the cd in and it booted from the cd. When i get to the desktop, everything is HUGE. i tried to start the installer and i can't see the bottom of the screen. I tabbed my way passed the first screen but when i choose my country for the time zone, it wont let me tab past the country/city list box. I know there are buttons down there because i googled an installation walk through and i found the screen I'm at but can't get to the buttons. I tried going to system >> administration >> screen resolution but the only option available is 640X480.

When you boot from the CD, you have an option "Check CD for defects". Run it, if you haven't, and post the results here.

By the way, any reason for not getting Ubuntu 7.04?

nope. Didn't know which one to get so i choose one. Doesn't really bother me either way. Do you think i should try and download 7.04 and try installing that?

I don't think this is the problem. Try googling it...

What graphiccard and mainboard are in that computer?

definitely try with 7.04 - this sounds like a graphics card issue and it's a good bet there are new drivers in the latest release.

I downloaded and burned the 7.04 image to a CD. It still gives me the same problem as before. I googled the issue and a few sites came up but they told me to change a file that i didnt have access to since im running this off the CD. maybe i just can't install it on this computer
