Hello all.
I need advice on some issues.
I have a managed dedicated server (EV1 Server) running RedHat 7.3 with php 4.1.2. I want to install forum software that requires php 4.3.3 or higher. I have an ancient control panel wich I rarely use, Plesk 5.0.4.
I have no backup solution except on my local PC of all the sites data and some small databases that do not change.
I need to upgrade php and come up with a backup solution. I have less than 10 sites with a very small amount of data and a small budget.
I think I can upgrade the php but I'm afraid to break something and not be able to restore it to working order.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Bit of context would help here. Will it fit on a DVD?Dirkk wrote:a very small amount of data
What are you afraid of breaking? Upgrading PHP is pretty safe as far as I'm aware.
Re: PHP Upgrade
If it were me, I'd start by upgrading the OS to a current version rather than use an OS that's 9 or 10 years old.

Re: PHP Upgrade
It's nothing to do with his OS... if it isn't broke, don't fix it.
If he were to upgrade his OS then we would be talking more seriously about the chances of a huge disaster during an upgrade.
