Dumb newbie question...

Post by JohnBoy2 »

Hi all - I apologize in advance for this question.

I want to install PHP (probably the latest ver. 5) to my Windows XP machine. Do I need to install a web server on my Windows XP machine first?

If so, should I let the installer do it for me? I would like to install the same Apache ver. that I'm using on my Linux VPS, so I guess I'd rather install the Apache on my local machine myself, and then install PHP5 and configure it into Apache?

Is this possible? Does this approach sound crazy?

Thanks in advance for all who reply...

Either use Wamp or download separately and configure yourself.

Thanks. Ok, so does that mean you do need to install Apache (in my case) first?
