installing php on vista

Hi,

I am having trouble getting php to work on my computer, have got mysql installed no problem, apache installed and when i go to localhost it says install successful, however if i add a index.php file into htdocs folder on my program files(x86) it asks me to open or save file it does not display it??

any help would be great, total newbie to PHP.

when i install php it says :

error installing, configure server manually?

I just use WAMP.

Installed it on Windows 7 a few days ago and works fine, so I would recommend that.

Unistall mysql, apache and download WAMP would be my suggestion... :)

I use WAMP too! I wrote a blog post about a week ago that lists 4 different ways to get php running on windows... If WAMP doesn't work, one of the others will, but WAMP probably will.

Hi all,

thanks for all your help, i tried wamp and xampp but none seemed to work. When i tried to view a php file it came back asking me to open or save it?

was going to try easyphp next? is this ok?

i have had problems installing everything on this vista machine(64). nightmare
