Lost MIME type??

I have a new laptop and am trying to get it working with Windows 7, PHP 5.3.19., IIS 7, and MySQL.
Finally got it running well for about a week. I then ran PowerSuite to "clean up" any loose ends. That blew up any attempt to run a PHP file.
Now after many "fixes" including a new php.ini file L can not get any browser to use PHP. They all comment out the PP code with "<!--".
I tried adding a .php mime type (both text/x-php and application/z-php and variations thereof).
Maybe it can not find the connection to PHP, and I do not know here that connection is either to check it.
I also had to go back into IIS7 and check CGI. I have no idea about what happened to Fast CGI.
All suggestions will be appreciated.
