the bottleneck is your network connection and your provider's upload throttling.. Only when there are lots of people downloading at once does ram and the machine's speed really come into play. (unless you have lots of slow scripts running on there too )
I've had a lot of problems with wireless networks, when the machine that's wireless is a server, or time sensitive in nature.. So the best option I see is directly connecting the eMachines computer directly to the router.
ok, ive tried using the old PC, and it seems better, it needs a upgrade, what are the main things i should upgrade? also
why is it still slow, HOW CAN I MAKE IT FASTER???? if I upgrade to a 1mbps line, its the same upload speed as a 576kpbs line
(the 1 i have now). Any ideas? How do you guys do it?
what are the speeds there?
most of us have actual servers, not home machines. So, I have 2 OC-192's and 16 or so T3's as my pipeline. You could potentially compress the data, however if the data you are sending is already compressed, it's a waste of time and will generally make the file larger.
