Domain VS Workgroup

Post by davesniper2 »

to start off i work for a lien company and i am their network admin.

as of right now we have 6 computers and a server. the computers are running XP pro and the server is running windows 2003 server basic. i have it all set up and am still doing minor changes to all the setting but now my boss wants to know if this is the way to go. we are using a domain environment and i told her that its the better way to go then a work group. for security, central data base, and all the other stuff. so my question is, is there anything better with using a work group than there is in a domain. i would like to get some pros and cons to give to her

thanks

Domain: security, auditing, centralization.
Workgroup: can be faster, but will often have more packet collisions, no security or centralization.
