How do I install WAMP on a dedicated server?

Post by bwv2 »

Can anyone point me in the direction of some detailed instructions on how to install WAMP on my dedicated server? I'm new at this whole server thing, so any help will be appreciated. I see that there was a topic in this forum on this subject, but the provided link is no longer functioning.

Thanks.

I have found XAMPP to be a much better option. Their install instruction for different server types are very easy to follow and it is incredibly simple to install.

The XAMPP site says that its security is not good from a commercial standpoint, and that it's not recommended for that. As I will be processing credit cards and storing personal info, I don't think it's a good idea. Unless, of course, there's some way of increasing the security. Otherwise, does anyone else have any pointers to where I can find instructions for WAMP5 installation/configuration?

Thanks for the help.

Actually they say that only about the INITIAL setup. You need to run the security program to set the initial security settings. You can enable SSL easily as well. The default settings are NOT secure but if you do the above it will be just as secure as if you installed each item manually.
