php 5.2 + apache 2.2 + vista = reboot

Anytime I make changes to my php.ini file.. I expect a restart of apache to reflect the changes.
But this isn't so.
I need a reboot of my entire computer for the changes to take affect.

Is this apache, or php?

Could be something else.. I've recently started using the TeaTimer program of spybot.. which protects system settings.. but nothing pops up when I change anything, so I'd suspect that's not it.

Anybody else have any similar problems or know of a workaround?

Most likely this is a result from editing the wrong php.ini

phpinfo() in a test file somewhere to see the physical location of the php.ini and make sure its the one your editing

Nope. The changes take effect right after I reboot my system. I always edit the same php.ini file.

In fact, a search shows I have only one php.ini file

Are you sure you're restarting the correct Apache install? Several companies these days run Apache behind the scenes.. Nvidia comes to mind.
