Ubuntu Feisty Fawn - cannot get apache2 to work

Post by Luke »

I have an *almost* fresh install of ubuntu feisty. I am trying to install php5, apache2, and mysql5 on it. I was successful in installing all three, but yet when I try to access localhost, I get nothing. When I try to access the machine's IP... nothing. What could I be missing?

EDIT: I've uninstalled and reinstalled apache I think 5 times now. Nothing. I know there is something I'm forgetting, but I can not remember what. :(

Assuming you installed them properly (deps and all that) it should just work. A quick reboot might be the fastest troubleshooting step... */me ducks*

"entire thing" - you mean Ubuntu?
If it is so, maybe there were some firewall rules matching port 80 ...

Yea it's my VPS, so I just had them put a fresh install of Ubuntu (Dapper) and then I upgraded to Feisty so I can use php5.2. With Dapper I was stuck with 5.1.2 :( Thanks guys, it seems to be working great now :D
