Help - Linux to IIS?

Post by davegfx »

Hiya, was hoping someone could give me a hand as I'm a designer and have been thrown a bit off the deep end by a programmer I hired. I'm not very technical so I'm not sure what the problem is, but I will try my best to explain. If you do respond, please....in layman's terms as possible.

Basically, this 5 page site is built: http://empower.123clicksite.com/index.php. It needs to now go up on the proper server. But all I've heard from the programmer was "'Im sorry, maybe your host is Window Server. It use IIS server, I can't setup it in there. Please use Linux host for your site." He was supposed to transfer the site but now that has has been paid he's done a runner.

I have all the files. Can someone help me ASAP? Let me know what needs to be done, how difficult it is, etc. Thank you very much!

If it is just a 5 file site then all you need to do is copy those files into the public HTML folder on a Linux/Apache server.

So what if where it needs to go is a Microsoft hosting package. Does the work need to be redone?

Depends on what the pages do. If it sends email or accesses a database then there can be differences.

Use a good windows host that also supports PHP under IIS. Mine does.
