SSL Certificates. RapidSSL vs Verisign/Thwarte

Is there any reason not to use RapidSSL or similar for my SSL requirements over Thwarte or Verisign

http://www.rapidssl.com/ssl-certificate ... -order.htm

That's VERY cheap for a SSL certificate, and if the browser accepts them...I can't see the difference.

They are probably all the same for your purposes.

Sorry - I should have explained that it's a "low usage" ecommerce website. So there will be credit card numbers going to and from the server.

Online payments, and SSL certificates all rely on the same: TRUST.

As soon as customers trust the certificate (probably via the authority that signed the certificate) there is no difference. In that case you could issue your own certificate.

If a self-signed certificate is'nt enough i would recommend http://www.cacert.org/..

If you want a certificate that is signed by an authority that is trusted by default by most browsers you'll have to shelve out some $.
