gradient photoshop tutorials/examples?
are there any good photoshop tutorials on the web that someone can point me to?
thanks
what i'm trying to do is use a gradient. i want one side of the gradient to be one color, then the other side to be clear with no color and/or have an image on that other side kinda like the example image that is provided below.
if anyone knows how to do that or if you know of a tutorial that can explain that, then that would be great.
i am using photoshop 7.0.
thanks

There are two ways to do this:
1) Make your gradient just one solid colour. On one end, set the opacity to 0%. Fill a layer with that gradient and you'll get what you want
2) Fill a layer 100% with the fill colour. Make a mask on that layer that is a gradient black to white. That'll also get you what you want.

Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.

There are lots of tutorials online about masking in Photoshop. Essentially, you select the layer you want to mask, then click the little button near the bottom of the 'Layers' palette that looks like a white circle in a grey box. This will create a layer mask.
The layer mask is 8-bit and greyscale with white being 100% visible, and black being 0% visible. To make a layer look faded in, just fill it with a gradient starting with black where you want the picture to be invisible, and ending with white where you want the picture visible.

It's hard to see, but if you look closely, you'll see a black box around either the layer or the mask - whichever you've got selected. When you've got the mask selected, apply your gradient.
Once again, check Google for Photoshop gradient tutorials - you'll be able to find something useful.
