l like Fireworks. To me it's better than Photoshop because it has all the tools I need in one including vector tools for typography and such. On linux I use GIMP and Inkscape.

Photoshop 7 / Imageready
Illustrator
GIMP
Xara X1

So far, Xara X is the easiest to use. Photoshop has been the most powerful for me and Illustrator has been the most flexible. But most of my work is done Photoshop.

Of course, Xara just had a sale and picked up my copy of Xara X for $19 US. I might start using that a lot more. I also use Xara Webstyle, but that is not really graphic design work  .

I've personally never had a need to use anything other than Photoshop CS2, but on the otherhand my designs arn't all that hard to do.

Photoshop CS2, with a little Inkscape for vector art.

I'd like to switch to Gimp but from what I hear it's difficult to use.

Using GIMP since I switched to Linux. I used Photoshop and CorelDRAW for years. The switch did not seem that difficult. There's plenty of help on the web for GIMP.

Isn't it possible to run photoshop on linux?

I'm sure it's possible. But it's not recommended. And it probably is very difficult.

Think I would need Crossover or Wine for that. However, I'm not much of an Artist so GIMP is good enough. Always thought Photoshop was overkill for the little artwork I do. Thanks to those that mentioned Inkscape here I'm not missing Illustrator now either.

[Forgive me for Necromancing. I've spent the last few days reinstalling Kubuntu.]
