I use the CS2 apps
Photoshop for design, Photo Composition and processing, color calibration, CMYK channell processing...
Image ready (only for some small animated gif)
Illustrator for advance vectorial (when I really need it)
then Flash 8.
For me Photoshop is one of the most powerfull tools for image processing, of course it depends on the use you need, sometimes GD make your life easier
but if you need to design, not just serial producing, Photoshop is just like water for me "can't live without". Don't speak about scripting and batch support!
My first version runs under Windows 3.11 when 1Mb of ram cost 100$!!!!!
It was an old Intel 386DX with a math coprocessor 387DX, 4Mb of ram, 1 hd 30mb, 1 hd 50mb It takes a life to do anything!!!!!!!!! LoL ...am I a fossil?

I had used with Photoshop, Inkscape, Gimp, CorelDraw, Fireworks, Freehand and of course Paint in the previous jobs I had or downloaded them out of curiosity (especially in college).
I loved Photoshop and CorelDraw but they are too expensive for me so I use TheGimp. TheGimp has long way to go before being on par with Photoshop but it' s free.
