Hi all, I am working on a logo in Illustrator and I was wondering if there was a way around or solution to my problem.
In my image I have a orange rectangle as a background to the logo because the theme of my website is orange. So when I create a drop shadow of some letters (layered above the rectangle), the shadow does not appear on the orange rectangle, it appears on the white background behind the rectangle. Is there a way to make the background orange or make the drop shadow appear on the orange?

OK
First of all - it greatly helps to tell which version of Illustrator you are working in, as my help may be a complete waste of time.

As you can see I have tried to re-create your setup, I have the orange box on the bottom layer, and the text on a new layer. I then created a drop shadow effect and they have worked nicely. You are obviously choosing the wrong thing somewhere, or not setting up the layers correctly. Please keep me up to date, I will try to help in any way I can.
