Site Check for client site

It doesn't matter if you do all the error checking in the world, or if you have the most beautiful graphics, if your site or application design isn't usable, it's not going to do well. Get input and advice on usability and user interface issues here.

Site Check for client site

Post by slimsam1 »

Hi,

I'd like any input on the site, but more specifically the database I made for my client.

The address is http://www.houstonhardwoods.com (click Moulding)

The database is a collection of moulding profiles; there are about 700 currently. A moulding "Profile" is a cross-section of the piece of moulding (crown mould, baseboard, chair rail, etc).

I would also like feedback on the administration interface, and I have a temporary version of the site on my home system so you guys can play with that.
(PM for address)

It will only work while my computer is on, and if it sees any abuse I will not hesitate to take it down. You may log in to the Admin panel via the link at the bottom of any page. Use 'temp' as the username, and any password will do.

Thanks!

other than the admin panel being a popup (which is a personal preference), and "Image:" being misaligned in the "Add Item" panel, I think it's okay. Have you tried aligning the button, in each panel, to the other form fields, instead of centering it.

I didn't try to delete a type, but it looks like you don't have a delete confirmation.. that may be a good idea to add.

Personal preference: I like to repopulate all fields (outside of passwords) on an error, when attempting to add a new type, it erased the error'd field. Granted, that case is a simple 5 letter code.. so it's not all that important..

Thanks!

Fixed the alignment of the "Image:" and of the buttons.

Yes, the five-letter type field is one of just a couple fields I chose to not repopulate.

I considered adding an edit type feature, but I doubt the site owners would ever use it.
