The font is fine for the navigational items but I'd recommend losing it for the main text which people have to read. I'm afraid my advice would be to use something like Verdana (only for where you have content text). Otherwise looks fine and the grey looks good. A small amount of another colour would give it a little kick though?
Personally, I don't like flyout menus as this is a web site not an application (IMHO). If you're going to use them, why not let them fly out directly below the main link 'Interesting links' rather than left or right? That way you won't cover up any other site content,
