Hey you guys

I just checked some threads about website reviewing and thought I'd put my one up as well. Criticism always helps. So here you go...feel free to slag me off

Hi,

First impression was pretty good, but I did notice a few things:

The menu is WAY to wide on my screen. Set it's width to an absolute value rather than relative.
You've got content right to the edge of the screen. This isn't a bad thing necessaryily, but to me, a page seems more readable with space on the sides.
You're sub-menu items should also mouse over.
The site is a bit on the drab side. Try reducing the amount of grey. A header image would also be a good thing.
The header in general is a big part of the page. Try cutting it down.

These are, of course, only my opinions - not pillars of good design philosophy.

thank you very much for your opinions, much appreciate it. I will certainly look into the suggestions that you made. I was going to include some header image of the college but they are moving to a new location thats why I haven't yet. I am creating some image works for the site using RealViz Sticher. Something catchy. And about the sub-menu items I certainly will make the changes.

Thanks very much once again.

Maybe a couple more images to break up the gray, and fix the sidebar. That's pretty much all for me, nice site btw!

alignment looks weird at 1600x1200 (Firefox 0.92)

no offense here, but here's some problems I see:
  • using tables instead of divs/spans
  • using font tags
  • caps of html tags
  • unquoted attribute values
  • using macromedia rollover code

Thanks Feyd

I'm terribly new to web designing. Well...I wouldn't call me a 'Web Designer' at all. Still learning. But what you're pointing out definitely helps because I'm actually going through the codes and stripping the unwanted bits. also trying to fix the alignment problem.

Also, if you could just give me some tips on how to optimize and sort the problems that you mentioned, I'd be grateful.
