"Programmer Meet Designer" - Is it usable?

It doesn't matter if you do all the error checking in the world, or if you have the most beautiful graphics, if your site or application design isn't usable, it's not going to do well. Get input and advice on usability and user interface issues here.

BUG REPORT:

When I tried to add a link to my online profile (http://www.robert-gonzalez.com) by just putting the url in with no tags, your system automatically created the link... up to the dash. When I edited it to add the <a> tag the entire link disappeared.

This is in the profile page for users, in the bio section.

@everah: that bug is fixed now. Just enter your domain and it'll turn it into a proper link.
@matt1019: the tag cloud is custom made =)
@The Ninja Space Goat: The slash bug should be fixed now. And yes, I'm going to try and put a couple more icons/pics in there.

Thanks for the feedback -- keep it coming!

I just noticed you have multiple tags for the same thing: AJAX, ajax, css, CSS, mysql, MySQL, MYSQL... I'd strtolower them all so there is more consistency. :)

I like the new design. Good stuff.

Yes, the new release does strtolower them. I just preserved the old tags for archival purposes.

Hi kasrak. I've been to your site and I've noticed that when you view a profile page. When you click the link to send that user a PM, there's an extra forwardslash on the URL that just redirects you to your inbox.

Just thought I should help. thanks for the great site.

Of all the things on that site, what I really want to know about is...

your icons. Where did you get them? To me, those really make the pages look really good.

Hello again everyone.

I'm preparing PMD for the November 1st CSS Reboot.

This is the new look of the site:
http://new.programmermeetdesigner.com

The look is pretty much done, all that's left now is making parts of the site more user friendly.

What do you think? Thanks!

Alright guys, I took your advice and ditched the black skin.

Now for the real news: I launched version 5 of the site today. New features include improved interface, more RSS feeds, better localization (language you want your partner to speak, are you ok with your partner telecommuting?), and much improved profile pages and some more.

So what do you think of the new update? Your feedback is really, really appreciated. You guys helped me a lot so far, so thanks!
