Okay. I know I'm doomed to failure. I know it'll take me years to finish. I know I don't have a userbase ( I do, or at least about 20 friends of mine that I know will use it) and I know every other negative thing you might have to say. :-D Either way. Take a look at http://ourlifeproject.com/ and if you get the urge send me ideas of features to include for a myspace clone. If you don't want to or think I'm retarded don't reply and don't submit any ideas. no sweat off my back. :-D Ok, defensively asking for help, concluded. :-D BTW, for those wondering i am still working on my game. It's almost playable. :-D

What would anyone think this would merit a flaming? It's a neat idea I suppose, but not flameworthy in my opinion.

I think it is a great idea. I hate MySpace. In my opinion it is the worst example of a website in the universe.

I want to help you.

I also think it only took MySpace years because they are teh suck.

I think it is important to remember that Charles256 asked for opinions on his project and help cloning MySpace, not for opinions on MySpace.

the names Charles buddy. Hurts my feelings when you call me Charles256 ;) More seriously. Yeah, take a look. Tell me what you think of the design ( borrowed and modified from the zend garden, headers mine though) and e-mail me or say on here any features or addons you can think of.

Sorry.

I love the idea.

You covered alot of the stuff I would think of for a social website and I have a ton of ideas on top of those, I just don't have the time to write it all down right now, so expect an IM or email in the coming days.

The idea for a instant messenger is cool..but you gotta do it right if you decide to do it. If you could snag code from Google..they have a really cool one. What about trying a community chat instead?

community chat/that could become crowded real quick. i was just thinking an ajax type setup for the chat.nothign too flashy.just something that doesn't require downloading ;)

well..how many hits do you think you would get? I have been on community chat boards...most of the time they are fairly empty..from what I have seen. Whatever you do..just dont create the same crap that Myspace did....

They use XMPP compatible messaging... LiveJournal is launching such a system at the moment as well... you might want to look into this ;).

Someone tried to sell me an instant messaging thing written in PHP once. It was very simple and probably was coded very easily and I'm sure that with a bit of AJAX it could be implemented quite easily.

there already are many other MySpace type places that are better/worse but the only reason MySpace is the biggest is because it's so popular. it did what friendster didn't correctly. now it's like windows. it's just big but i don't nessessarily merit it's popularity.

i saw a few others that i liked better but i dunno where the links are lmao

those other sites are missing one thing that this one will have:

the power of devnetwork
