Button click sounds

Post by Smiley »

Hi,

I'm wondering what button click sounds are acceptable for a simple game UI so they won't become annoying if pressing several buttons in a row.
Does it make sense to get a button click sound at all?
I'd also appreciate link or two to free sound libs of the fx, usable in game UI.

Thanks,
Smiley

General UI guidelines would dictate some level of feedback to an interaction. Generally visual is all that is required, however if the game is visually impaired accessible or the demographic often wants more substantial feedback a sound can be used. The more often a sound will likely be hurt throughout a session, the less annoying in high repetition it should be. This will generally mean a smoother volume curve and frequency curve. This normally rules out speech as human speech is filled with massive volume changes and frequency arcs.
