design review for sports fansite

Post by s.dot »

I won't be leaving this link up long.. don't want the search engines to index it. But take a look and tell me what you think. Critique, feedback, suggest improvements. All links don't work yet, but the basic design is down.

If you refresh the page a couple times, the player on the left will change.. I think that's pretty neat. ;) I also like my menu.

Dude, when you said not long did you mean like 3 or 4 minutes?

It is not loading for me. Just says coming soon.

Yeah. I'll put it back online for a bit. I thought I deleted this topic after it didn't have any replies for a half an hour or so.. but I guess not. I recall the server going offline as I posted, so it's probably a duplicate entry and I deleted the other one.

I think it needs a little color added to it. Also the icons in the nav seem too wide.

Why not use a strict DTD instead of transitional? It seems like it could handle it.

On the shorter content pages the side image does not show up completely.

And lastly, it seems to not scale well to large resolutions. Perhaps making a liquid layout would make it a little cleaner for all browser resolution sizes.

Blue & white are the only team colors! But a little grays or off-color blues would look nice. The icons seem fine to me.

What would be the point? Transitional is working fine and a few pages (like gifts) will be rich in presentation.

That won't be a problem once I get more content in there. :D

Which part isn't scaling? Looks nice to me in 800x600 up to 1280x1024.

Thanks for the feedback.

If you visit the team site there are splashes (albeit little) of color ranging from greens to reds. That adds a little more life to it in my opinion. Not an overwhelming color thrash. Just a hint.

I am just a fanatic when it comes to things like this. Don't mind me. I have a "go big or go home" type of personality.

Stretched across two screens (in simulation of wide resolution) it starts to look a little weird. The chances of you actually having users with screen resolutions like this is probably scant at best, but just thought I'd throw it in the mix a bit.

You're welcome.
